Sterling Heights Mayor Taylor and Council Get Big Bucks From Rizzo and Other City Vendors

“Between the Mitten fund and Rizzo PAC last year (2015), Sterling Heights Incumbents received more than $71,000.”

See Detroit News Article to read the skinny –

Could this be the reason that they bid out the contract early and when Rizzo didn’t come in the low bidder they announced the low bid and then rebid the contract?

ZIP Line – Dog Park – Disc Golf and More

Oops! We omitted the special addendum from the January 27th meeting that outlined these topics. Sorry!

The document includes a nice Table of Contents on the left side and we have included a few highlights that follow after the links.

You can view the document from the city’s site here or from the following link.

Included you will also see accompanying images from the document for some of the things we have previously written about, that some people seem to believe are fictional.

Quick update

visioning-2030-thumb

Here is a link to the city’s “Visioning 2030” plan. This document clearly addresses the zip lines, dog park and many other items.  These items have also been discussed at city council meetings.

Appointed Mayor Taylor is on the record as stating that no money has been spent on these items yet money was spent to create this plan which specifically includes these items.

You can READ IT HERE and save it for later if you choose.

Michael Taylor a Republican or Democrat?

Michael Taylor on Facebook

Michael Taylor speaks out on Facebook regarding whether he is a Republican or a Democrat:

“While collecting signatures today I was asked if I’m a republican or democrat three times. Let’s see…I’m in favor of lower taxes and less spending, but support gay marriage. I support immigration reform leading to citizenship, but am against abortion. I don’t deny climate change, and I oppose creationism in public schools, but I also oppose affirmative action and strongly support gun rights. I oppose Obamacare, but support withdrawal of troops from overseas. I support right to work but think marijuana should be decriminalized. I oppose the death penalty and voter ID laws, but wish the sequester would have been bigger. I wish my social security account was private, but oppose corporate subsidies. I’m embarrassed by republicans (Agema, McCain, Graham) but democrats are no better (Pelosi, Obama). One day of campaigning in and I’m already sick of the question. I’m neither a republican nor democrat.”

According to the Macomb County Elections Dept. Mike Taylor was a
Republican Precinct Delegate in 2013.  He also ran for Precinct Delegate in 2014 and won.  See Below:

Sterling Heights Farmers Market

We love Farmers Markets, but would like to interject the following:
Should the city be in competition with the private sector?

There are at least two privately owned vegetable stands in the city, both on the east side of Dequindre Road  (Kathy’s Produce: http://bit.ly/1Kx02cQ)

Question:  If the city is going to go into competition with the private sector then why don’t they hold it at Freedom Hill where it is easier to get in and out of the park and it doesn’t back up traffic at the roundabout by city hall?

ALERT

The Liability Question

What liability is the city opening itself up to in the event of an accident? What is the risk? If you believe the risk to be minute or the liability to be “0” please let us know why in the comments.

Farmers Market Opens in June – In August the following articles appear in the newspapers regarding contaminated food being sold at the Sterling Heights Farmers Market:

Officials warn products sold at Metro Detroit Farmer’s Markets may contain Botulism  (Anyone who bought the affected products should dispose of them immediately, following special precautions)

http://bit.ly/1NXG1vk

Consumers urged to toss food products from local company (Locations where these products were sold – include Shelby Township, St. Clair Shores, Dodge Park, Sterling Heights and New Baltimore farmers markets.

To our knowledge our City Council or City Manager has not stated what they are doing about this or as to what liability the city may have in this matter.
